Prof. Kevin CHEN Became First Hong Kong Scholar to Receive JSAP Fellow International Award
Prof. Kevin CHEN, Chair Professor of Electronic and Computer Engineering and Director of Dr Tai-chin Lo Nanosystem Fabrication Facility, was selected as the 2025 Japan Society of Applied Physics (JSAP) Fellow International. He is the first Hong Kong scholar to receive this prestigious honor since the award was established in 2012.
Prof. Chen was cited for “advanced study on gallium nitride-based power switching devices and integrated circuits”. The award ceremony was held at the 86th JSAP Autumn Meeting in Nagoya, Japan from September 7 to 10, 2025.
JSAP established the Fellow Award in 2006 and Fellow International Award in 2012. The Fellow International Award recognizes the researchers living outside of Japan who have made remarkable contributions to the progress of applied physics through international activities related to JSAP. Prof. Chen is the only international fellow selected this year, and the first one from a Hong Kong university among the 32 international fellows awarded to date.
