Academic Advising

ELEC2910 Academic and Professional Development I and ELEC3910 Academic and Professional Development II are compulsory one-year courses for BEng in Electronic Engineering students.  The courses are designed to provide academic advising to students and/or to develop students' communication skills in interacting with the technical and non-technical audiences in their professional careers.

ELEC2910 and ELEC3910 are required courses of the program.  ELEC2910 is pre-enrolled to students in Year 2 while ELEC3910 is pre-enrolled to students in Year 3.  Students have to complete the following course requirements and obtain “P” grade in both courses in order to graduate.

ELEC2910 Academic and Professional Development I

Fall Term

  • 1st Meeting with Advisor individually
  • 2nd Meeting with Advisor individually or as a group
  • UG Orientation to be held on the Wed evening after Add/Drop Period
  • Two Career Development Workshops to be held on Wed evening in late Sept and early Oct 

Spring Term

  • 1st Meeting with Advisor individually
  • 2nd Meeting with Advisor individually or as a group
  • Two Career Development Workshops to be held on the Wed evening in late Feb and early Mar

Fall Term

  • 1st Meeting with Advisor individually
  • 2nd Meeting with Advisor individually or as a group
  • UG Orientation to be held on the Wed evening after Add/Drop Period

Spring Term

  • 1st Meeting with Advisor individually
  • 2nd Meeting with Advisor individually or as a group

Details of UG Orientation, Career Development Workshops and meeting timeslots are to be announced by email, students are strongly encouraged to check their ITSC account regularly and take appropriate actions.  If students do not receive any email/notice from advisor/the Department, please be proactive to contact respective party for immediate follow-up.
