Prof. Hoi Sing KWOK has been Elected the National Academy of Inventors (NAI) Fellow
Prof. Hoi Sing KWOK has been elected the National Academy of Inventors (NAI) Fellow. The NAI Fellows Program "highlight[s] academic inventors who have demonstrated a highly prolific spirit of innovation in creating or facilitating outstanding inventions that have made a tangible impact on the quality of life, economic development, and the welfare of society". The NAI Fellows program has "1,228 Fellows worldwide representing more than 250 prestigious universities and governmental and non-profit research institutes". (The NAI Fellows Program) The Fellows Induction Ceremony will be held on June 7-9, 2021 in Tampa, Florida at the NAI 10th Annual Meeting.
Prof. KWOK studied with Professor Nicolaas Bloembergen (Nobel Laureate, 1981) at Harvard University, where he received his PhD degree in Applied Physics in 1978. He joined the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering at HKUST in 1992. Prof. KWOK is an expert on display technologies and nanotechnologies. He has published over 700 journal and conference papers. He has written 3 monographs and edited 6 Conference Proceedings. He holds more than 90 patents and is active in technology transfer.
Prof. KWOK is Fellows of the Optical Society (OSA), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and Society for Information Display (SID) and the Hong Kong Academy of Engineering Science (HKAES). He is also an elected member of the Asia Pacific Academy of Materials (APAM). He was awarded the 2019 Jan Rajchman Prize by the Society for Information Display (SID).
