HKUST ROV Team led by Prof. Tim WOO won 1st Runner-up in Virtual RobotX 2023!

We are thrilled to announce that the HKUST Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) Team, a sub-team of the HKUST Robotics Team, has won the 1st Runner-up in the prestigious Virtual RobotX 2023 (VRX2023) Competition. It was HKUST's first participation in the VRX competition and we nailed it!

The VRX competition provided a unique platform for robotics teams worldwide to operate their autonomous surface vehicles (ASVs) in a cutting-edge Gazebo-based simulation environment developed by Open Robotics and the Naval Postgraduate School. Students are tasked to develop innovative solutions to ensure their vehicles can perform prescribed tasks in the simulated environment.

With a total of 34 teams from 14 countries competing, our dedicated team of 9 talented undergraduates from various engineering disciplines, showcased their exceptional skills and expertise.
