Professor Guo Yike assumed office as the Provost of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) on December 1, 2022. He is concurrently a Chair Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and also the Director of Hong Kong Generative AI Research & Development Centre. He is a Fellow of Royal Academy of Engineering (FREng), a Member of Academia Europaea (MAE), Fellow of Hong Kong Academy of Engineering Sciences (FHKEng) and Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (FIEEE).

Professor Guo received his first-class honours degree in Computing Science from Tsinghua University in 1985 and obtained his PhD degree from Imperial College London in 1994. He has been a full Professor in Department of Computing of Imperial College London since 2002. He was the Founding Director of the Data Science Institute at Imperial College London from 2014-2022.

Prior to joining HKUST, Professor Guo was the Vice President (Research and Development) and the Dean of Graduate School at Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) since 2020. He led the transformation of the research culture and reorganization of the research management structure with a multidisciplinary research environment. He has successfully built six institutional multidisciplinary laboratories to form a matrix-based research framework in the university. Under his leadership, HKBU has advanced its research capacity with a record high research grant and knowledge transfer incomes.
