IEEE SSCS Hong Kong Student Branch Chapter received SSCS Outstanding Chapter Award 2018. The Chapter was formed in 2016 and is currently chaired by Li WANG, with Sam WANG as the Co-Chair and Babar HUSSAIN as the Event Coordinator. The Chapter has organized a number of Distinguished Lectures and seminars for local chapter student members.
About the Chapter
The IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society HK Student Chapter is based in the IC Design Center of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, which has 11 research groups and around 70 students working on solid-state circuit design. Every year the newly joined the post-graduate students are invited to join the student Chapter. A membership drive was launched on 25 September 2017 with 7 more students enrolled as SSCS student member. The SSCS Hong Kong Student Chapter is also assisting in founding new student chapters in other areas, such as helping with the kick-off of SSCS Guangzhou Student Chapter. Various promotion activities have been carried out to increase the number of memberships. Since the inception of Student Chapter, the Facebook page was created to promote IEEE society, membership benefits and IEEE SSCS Student Chapter activities. The page has been followed by over 343 people as of now and also use as a medium to communicate and share useful information. All the HK SSCS Student Chapter activities are reported and updated regularly on the Chapter’s Facebook page. Furthermore, the WeChat group is also created to communicate among IEEE Student Chapter members and to plan and organize the events in a better manner. All the events organized by SSCS Student Chapter were very inspiring to audience members especially students and were attended by at least 30 members.
