The ECE Department and the IEEE Hong Kong EDU Chapter Co-organized a Winter Camp to Foster Future Electronic Engineers

The Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering (ECE) and IEEE Hong Kong Education Chapter has co-organized a 3-day Electronic Winter Camp on December 28-30, 2015 to let primary and secondary school students with ages ranging from 10 to 15 to experience the fun of electronic design and university study.  The event was led by Prof. Mansun Chan of ECE and the instructors and student helpers were all undergraduate Electronic Engineering students. It is the forth time the winter camp was organized at HKUST.

In the camp, the young children constructed various electronic gadgets such as running lights, electronic pianos, infrared transmitter/receiver and digital counter on breadboards with generic components.  The students also have the opportunity to visit some state-of-the-art laboratories of the university.  In addition to stimulating the interest in electronic design for young children, the camp also provided an opportunity for the university students to practice their presentation and organization skills. The camp was a big success with more than 50 participants.  Everyone enjoyed the camp with a lot of laughter.
