The paper by ECE PhD student Fei Gao and Prof. Shaojie Shen won the Best Conference Paper Award in IEEE SSRR 2016

Prof. Shaojie Shen and his PhD student Fei Gao from ECE won the Best Conference Paper Award in the 2016 International Symposium on Safety, Security and Rescue Robotics (SSRR 2016) held in EPFL, Lausanne, Switzerland, October 23-27th, 2016.

The winning paper was titled "Online Quadrotor Trajectory Generation and Autonomous Navigation on Point Clouds".

It is also the second year in a row for Prof. Shaojie Shen's group to win the Best Conference Paper Award in this conference.

Paper summary:
The paper proposes a method for generating safe trajectories for quadrotor flight through complex environments using directly raw point cloud measurements from range sensors. The performance of the proposed method is demonstrated through online experiments using a quadrotor testbed with onboard sensing and computation.
