PhD student Liwen Jing from the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering won first place in the 2016 IEEE MTT-S International Wireless Symposium (IWS) Student Paper Competition.  IWS is held annually in China to provide an international platform for the presentation and exchange of the latest technical achievements in microwave circuits, hardware, and RF systems related to the physical layer aspects of existing and emerging wireless systems.  This year, the conference was held in Shanghai, China, from 14-16 March 2016.

The award was for her paper "Fabrication and Measurement of Millimeter-Wave On-Chip MIMO Antenna for CMOS RFIC's".  This work was a result of Liwen Jing's MPhil studies (graduated in 2015), supervised by Prof. Patrick Yue and co-supervised by Prof. Ross Murch and Prof. Corbett Rowell.
