Before joining HKUST, Ling Pan was a postdoctoral fellow at Mila-Quebec AI Institute supervised by Prof. Yoshua Bengio. She received her Ph.D. from the Institute for Interdisciplinary Information Sciences, Tsinghua University in 2022, and received her B.E. from the School of Computer Science and Engineering, Sun Yat-Sen (Zhongshan) University in 2017. During her Ph.D., she visited Stanford University, University of Oxford. She was also a recepient of Microsoft Research Ph.D. Fellowship (Asia).
Ling’s research interests mainly include theoretical understanding, algorithmic improvements and practical application of generative flow networks (GFlowNets; Bengio et al., 2021), reinforcement learning and multi-agent systems. She focuses on developing robust, efficient, and practical decision-making algorithms.
She is actively looking for self-motivated students to join her research group, and will provide strong support and aims at guiding students to conduct high-quality research. Please visit her webpage to gain more insight about her research and reach out to her to discover potential opportunities.
