Talk Description

Dion Chiu is ECE graduate at HKUST and in this talk she will share her career starting as a Graduate Trainee in CLP Power HK since graduation. In particular she has rotated to different departments in CLP and she will share more about the interesting topics of her project experience in power plant for different disciplines of Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics as well as the challenges faced by a female engineer.

In addition, she will share more tips for what elements to be equipped as a qualified engineer and the career path in the company. She will also introduce the HKIE Engineering Graduate Training Scheme “A” program and the career path to be a Chartered Engineer. She will also provide tips on your career planning as a student and also how to get the most from your studies so that it helps your future career.

 

Speaker's Biography

Dion Chiu was graduated in 2011 with a BEng in Electronic Engineering at HKUST and is currently employed as Project Engineer II at CLP Power HK Ltd. She has been working in the power industry for over six years. Since graduation from HKUST, she joined CLP as Graduate Trainee and completed the HKIE Engineering Graduate Training Scheme “A” program through rotations to different departments in the company. After the training program, she worked as a maintenance engineer for generating units at power plants for two years. Currently, she worked as a project engineer to be in charge of projects at different discipline, including Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics, etc. One of the large scale projects is Landfill Generator Project in Tuen Mun WENT Landfill Site.
