Ph.D., Duke University

 

Zhiyao Xie completed his Ph.D. at Duke University in 2022, following his B.Eng from CityU HK in 2017 on a full scholarship. During his Ph.D. studies, he also gained invaluable industry experience as a research intern at multiple leading semiconductor companies, including Nvidia, Arm, Cadence, and Synopsys.

Zhiyao's research interests span cross-disciplinary topics in electronic design automation (EDA), machine learning, VLSI design, and computer architecture. He is an expert in machine learning solutions for EDA/VLSI design.

Zhiyao's research contributions have earned him multiple prestigious awards, including the MICRO 2021 Best Paper Award, ACM Outstanding Dissertation Award in EDA 2023 (one awardee every year), EDAA Outstanding Dissertation Award 2023, ACM SIGDA SRF 2022 Best Research Poster Award, ASP-DAC 2023 Best Paper Award, etc.
